The painting Virgin? is a portrait of the Virgin Mary, who is a christian religious figure. She had a baby called Jesus("the son of god") with a man named Joseph. The story goes that she did not sleep with Joseph, and that God gave the baby throgh Immaculate Conception. I painted a nude with a halo to contradict this idea, you cannot be a mother (of the son of god) through immaculate conception, it just doesnt make sense.
